I am one of those "lightweight" DIY people, that some might even call wannabe-DIY. But having spent insane amounts of money on other really simple projects before, when we found water dripping from the back of the refrigerator, I was tempted to at least open the back panel and see whats inside. Sure enough, the inlet valve was broken. Found this replacement and given that it was perhaps the only genuine GE option available (for less than a tenth of the cost of what a plumber/handyman might take to just make the trip for diagnostics), placed order on Sunday late night. Even though no expedited shipping option was available, I was pleasantly surprised to see it delivered Tuesday (granted, we live in the heart of Chicago, but still that was fast!)

Needed a quick straightening of the connectors with a pair of pliers. GE has an amazing, almost no-tool, intuitive replacement procedure. It was literally in and out in under 5 minutes. Fit perfectly on our GE Profile Arctic model. Back up and running. No opinion yet on durability, but I assume it should last as well as the previous one.

Btw, one tip you might find helpful (though sorta obvious in hindsight): While waiting for the leak to be fixed, its simplest to take off the water filter so that it shuts off the supply line. It was particularly helpful in our case since we don't have a dedicated shutoff valve going into the refrigerator and didn't want to shut off supply to the entire kitchen.

I did some research on the problem I was having with my refrigerator. I found the part on Amazon, and also read some posts from those experiencing the same problem. Swapped this out in 5 minutes. My neighbor had the same refrigerator, same problem. He bought his from Amazon as well. We are both extremely satisfied with this product.

This is a drect OEM replacement part for my old dual outlet water valve. It's easy to install. Just remove the back cover, I used nutdriver screwdrivers. Remove the single screw that holds the old bracket on. Swap the outlet lines, then swap the connectors. Mount the new valve, then remove the inlet valve from the old one and screw it onto the new one.

Leave the back cover off for a while and wait for a couple of icemaker cycles and use the water through the door dispenser a few times. Check for leaks. If no leaks, then install the back cover using the 4 screws and you're done!
